Parts of a Computer System

Parts of a Computer System

Parts of a computer system can be classified into following types.

1. Hardware

It is the physical component of a computer, which we can touch and feel.
e.g.; Keyboard, mouse, monitor etc.

Hardware is classified into two peripherals and logics

a. Peripherals

The input and output devices of a computer is called peripherals.
e.g.; Keyboard, monitor etc.

b. Logics

The circuit board work under digital principles is called logics.

Motherboard

It is the main PCB (printed circuit board) of computer, all peripherals are connected to motherboard.

Daughterboard (Add-on-card)

Add-on-card or Daughter board is used to add extra functions to main board.
e.g.; soundcard for speakers, display to connect the monitor, network card to connect network.

2.Software

They are group of programs, they are two types System software and Application software.

System software

They are used to operate a computer by creating a work environment , they are also called operating system(OS), which can act as an interface between hardware and the user.

Application Software

It is also a set of programs developed for user applications.
e.g.; Ms-office, Photoshop, Tally etc.

3. Firmware

It is the combination of hardware and software.
e.g.: BIOS (Basic Input Output System that starts up the system)*

4.Liveware

The user of a computer is called liveware.
